Body & Neck

The Combustion’s body is crafted from swamp ash, modeled after the Dingwall Custom Shop Afterburner. Its compact, lightweight design makes it comfortable for long sessions while maintaining excellent balance. The five-piece maple bolt-on neck provides rock-solid stability, paired with a maple or pau ferro fingerboard featuring Ralph Novak’s fanned-fret system. The 34–37 inch multi-scale design ensures tight, articulate lows and smooth playability across the full two-octave range.

Pickups & Electronics

Equipped with Dingwall FD3n pickups, crafted with neodymium magnets, the Combustion delivers high output with an aggressive yet musical character. The pickups are paired with an EMG 3-band active preamp, offering powerful EQ shaping. A 4-position Quad-Tone selector unlocks versatile tonal options, from vintage warmth in passive mode to modern punch with the preamp engaged. Controls include master volume, bass, mid, treble, and an active/passive toggle switch, giving you total command of your sound.

Hardware

Built for professional use, the Combustion features licensed Hipshot Ultralite tuners with a shortened peg design for better break angle at the nut and improved tuning stability. The individual Dingwall bridge units provide excellent sustain and resonance while maintaining perfect string-to-string balance. Additional features like a recessed jack socket and a magnetic battery cover add convenience for gigging players.

Strings & Accessories

Every Combustion ships with Dingwall Nickel Strings, engineered specifically for multi-scale basses to deliver even tension, tight lows, and clear highs. Stainless steel options are also available for players seeking a brighter edge. A padded Dingwall gigbag is included for safe transport.
