This US-made acoustic showcases a powerful, sophisticated L-style body developed by Jean Larrivee decades ago — one that not only strikes a fine balance between articulation and power, but also is chock-full of tonewoods chosen by hand. The L-11 Vintage Reissue’s German spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides give notes strict note separation and bell-like clarity with all the dark, warm richness inherent to quality rosewood. A 1-piece mahogany neck reinforces tone with excellent sustain, not to mention the unguarded comfort and playability of a “C”-shaped neck carve. Of course, a bevy of detailed appointments, including a rosette that was used for the original L-11, rosewood binding, and a Celtic-style JCL headstock logo, explicitly proclaim unwavering commitments to snazzy yet suave looks. For a special final touch, your L-11 will arrive with a serialized soundhole cutout (from your actual guitar) and a USB drive loaded with production photos of your instrument.
East Indian rosewood and German spruce tonewoods
The L-11 Vintage Reissue combines discerning tonewood selections and detailed craftsmanship to create one seriously versatile guitar. Indian rosewood back and sides produce a bright top end, balanced midrange, and refined, full bass. Balancing rosewood’s depth is a German spruce top that was plucked from regions that have produced prized musical tonewoods for centuries. German spruce adds definition, punch, and clear fundamentals with a touch of brightness that, together with rosewood, becomes magic to the ears. The 1-piece mahogany neck features a resonant dovetail joint and playable “C” neck carve, just like the original L-11 had. Internally, hand-voiced bracing made from Alpine moon spruce balances the L-11’s dynamic response across highs, mids, and lows. Plus, Larrivee adds tone-saving hardware — a high-density bone nut, bone saddle, and Schaller tuners — for guaranteed resonance that highlights every detail of tonewoods and strings.
Famous L-style body
The unique L-style body is an innovative guitar shape developed with Larrivee’s years of hands-on guitar expertise. The L-style blends the comfort and articulation of a smaller concert-style guitar with the reliable heft and projection of a classic dreadnought. Guitarists would be wise to take advantage of this marriage between power and comfort! The L-11 Vintage’s strong tapered waist and classic dimensions make it a studio guitar that sounds big but clear, and its comfortable profile is bound to have a welcoming feel when you take it onstage or to gigs.
