Body
The baked Sitka spruce top has been thermally aged to provide the responsiveness, warmth, and openness typically associated with decades-old guitars. Paired with solid Indian rosewood back and sides, the J-38 produces a full-bodied voice with deep, piano-like bass, rich overtones, articulate mids, and shimmering highs.
Hand-scalloped X bracing allows the soundboard to resonate freely, creating exceptional volume, sustain, and tonal balance. Finished in Atkin's beautifully applied nitrocellulose lacquer, available in either an aged or mirror gloss finish, the guitar is complemented by cream celluloid binding and a classic black, cream, and black rosette for timeless vintage appeal.
Neck
The mahogany neck offers a comfortable, familiar playing experience, paired with a bound Santos rosewood fingerboard featuring elegant Atkin Double Diamond inlays. A 16-inch fingerboard radius provides effortless playability across the entire neck, while the 25.4-inch scale length delivers excellent clarity, projection, and string tension for both fingerstyle and flatpicking.
