The Fender Road Worn ’50s Telecaster captures the unmistakable look, feel and attitude of a well-loved vintage Telecaster straight out of the case. Originally designed to recreate the character of an instrument that has spent years on the road, the Road Worn finish features convincing wear through to the wood, aged hardware and a naturally broken-in feel.
This 2008 example pairs an alder body finished in 2-Color Sunburst with a maple neck featuring a comfortable “C” profile, 7.25" radius and 21 narrow-tall frets. The vintage-style three-saddle Telecaster bridge, black single-ply pickguard and vintage-style tuning machines complete the classic ’50s-inspired look.
A set of Fender Tex-Mex Telecaster single-coil pickups provides the familiar Telecaster character, with plenty of bite and definition from the bridge pickup and a warmer, fuller response from the neck pickup. The traditional three-way switching, master volume and master tone keep the controls simple and versatile.
This example has also been upgraded with Graph Tech saddles, adding a practical modern improvement while retaining the classic Telecaster feel.
Condition
As a 2008 instrument, this Telecaster shows normal signs of use consistent with its age. The original Road Worn finish is intentionally aged, so much of the visible wear is part of the model's design rather than damage. Additional signs of playing and handling are present from years of use, giving this particular example an authentic, well-played character.
