The Huss and Dalton TD-M Custom is a buyer-customized take on their renowned ‘Traditional Dreadnought-Mahogany’ model. This example pairs a torrefied Adirondack Spruce top with Sinker Mahogany back and sides for a combination of powerful projection, clarity, and vintage-inspired warmth.
The ‘Traditional Dreadnought’ design dates back over a century, originating with early Martin models built for the Ditson company. Huss and Dalton have carried this legacy forward, producing guitars with exceptional craftsmanship, finish, and tone.
Built in 2014 at the Huss and Dalton shop in Staunton, Virginia, this guitar features a Sinker Mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and an Indian Rosewood headplate. Mother-of-pearl dot markers, a faux-tortoise pickguard, and binding complete the classic aesthetic. Waverly oval-button open-gear tuners ensure precise, reliable tuning.
Sinker Mahogany, sourced from Belize and recovered from river bottoms, is prized for its tonal similarity to vintage mahogany, offering rich, resonant lows and clear mids. The torrefied Adirondack top enhances responsiveness and provides a clean, dynamic tone, especially suited for aggressive playing styles such as bluegrass.
This guitar is in very good, original condition and comes with the original Tweed hard shell case.
