Built in Japan in August 1980, this example features a Natural finish, a solid Spruce top, and a compact hollowbody design developed to deliver the warmth, clarity, and articulation demanded by jazz players.
The GB10 was designed in collaboration with George Benson, combining traditional archtop character with a smaller body intended to improve comfort and help control feedback at higher stage volumes. Its three-piece Maple neck, bound Ebony fingerboard, pearloid and Abalone split-block inlays, and gold hardware reflect the model's refined appointments. Dual floating GB Special mini-humbuckers provide a clear, balanced voice suited to jazz, chord melody, and single-note lines.
Inside, the guitar retains its original oval “The Original Issue” label, signed by George Benson, along with its original Ibanez plush-lined hardshell case.
A desirable example of an early GB10, this guitar represents an important period in Ibanez's history of building professional-grade jazz instruments in Japan.
