Body

The alder body provides the balanced tonal foundation associated with classic single-coil guitars, with a comfortable shape designed for both studio and stage use. The PRS steel tremolo is set flush against the body in its neutral position, allowing the bridge to lower pitch while maintaining strong contact with the body for increased acoustic resonance and sustain.

The distinctive PRS headstock design is inverted to suit Mayer's playing style while helping maintain a consistent length of string behind the nut, contributing to improved tuning stability.

Neck & Playability

The maple neck features PRS's 635JM neck carve, developed specifically for the Silver Sky and inspired by the feel of vintage instruments. The 7.25-inch radius maple fingerboard and 22 frets provide a familiar vintage playing experience, while the 25.5-inch scale length delivers the classic Fender-style response and string tension.

Small PRS bird inlays add a subtle signature detail, while the bone nut and double-action truss rod provide reliable setup and long-term stability.

Electronics

The Silver Sky is equipped with three 635JM single-coil pickups, voiced to deliver a full, rounded tone with clear articulation and a smooth high end. They offer the familiar character of vintage single-coils while maintaining excellent definition and consistency.

A five-way blade switch, master volume, and two tone controls provide a wide range of classic single-coil sounds, from warm neck tones to bright, articulate bridge sounds and the distinctive in-between positions.
